Erica has gone on to star in numerous TV shows including: "True Blood", "Criminal Minds", "Greys Anatomy", "Nikita", "Rizzoli & Isles", "House", "ER", "Profiler", and "Veronica Mars".įilm credits include: "Tuesday Morning Ride" with Ruby Dee, Wayne Wang's "Smoke" opposite Forest Whitaker, Abel Ferrara's "The King of New York" with Christopher Walken, Hal Hartely's "No Such Thing" with Helen Mirren, "Freaky Friday" opposite Jaime Lee Curtis, and the just completed "Romeo and Juliet in Harlem", with Harry Lennix and Aunjanue Ellis. In her junior year, Erica auditioned and got the role of "Coco Hernandez" in the groundbreaking hit TV series "Fame". ![]() Later, she got accepted into the High School for the Performing Arts' Drama Department where her formal acting training began and passion for the craft ignited. As a member of the chorus, Erica had her first acting experience, and at seven-years-old decided to become an actress. As a child, Erica would go on tour with her mother who was performing the role of Bess in the opera "Porgy and Bess". Her parents met and fell in love at their singing teachers studio and got married in the early 60's when interracial marriage was a radical thing to do. Gimpel is also an active member of the world peace organization, The SGI-USA.Įrica Gimpel was born in Manhattan, to Phyllis Bash, a concert singer and Joseph Gimpel, an actor, singer and short story writer. She is currently (2008) performing in the Los Angeles area with her trio. Gimpel is also a singer/songwriter blending the styles of Jazz/Pop and Alternative. Gimpel has just completed shooting the independent film "Blue Eyes" which was shot in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Gimpel's film credits include the Oscar nominated short "Tuesday Morning Ride" with Ruby Dee, Wayne Wang's "Smoke" opposite Academy Award-winner Forest Whitaker, Abel Ferrara's The King of New York" with Christopher Walken, "Touch Me" opposite Amanda Peet, Hal Hartley's "Flirt" and "No Such Thing" opposite Academy Award-winner Helen Mirren, and Disney's hit "Freaky Friday" opposite Jamie Lee Curtis. Gimpel's favorites include Touched by an Angel (1994) opposite Phylicia Rashad, JAG (1995), and the Christmas fable Santa and Pete (1999) opposite the legendary James Earl Jones. ![]() She played "Angel Brown" in the NBC series Profiler (1996) and appeared for six seasons as "Adele Newman" in the Emmy Award-winning series Швидка допомога (1994).
